Ear Spacers and Spacer Earrings
Ear spacers are a popular form of body modification, that are larger than traditional piercings. To wear spacer earrings, you first need to stretch your earlobes to accommodate the larger size. If you’re not sure about committing to stretching your ears you can also get fake spacer earrings to try the look!
What are ear spacers?
Ear spacers are cylindrical pieces of jewellery that fit snugly into larger diameter body piercings. Fake spacer earrings refer to traditional piercings that only imitate the look of smaller sized ear spacers.
Spacer earrings are also known as plugs, tunnels, and ear gauges, and these terms are often used interchangeably which can be a bit confusing when you’re shopping!
What sizes do our ear spacers and spacer earrings come in?
Here at Custom Plugs, you’ll find all common sizes of ear spacers, plug, tunnel and gauge sizes.
The “g” or gauge sizes:
- 1.6 mm–14g
- 2 mm–12g
- 2.4 mm–10g
- 3.2 mm–8g
- 4 mm–6g
- 5 mm– 4g
- 6 mm–2g
- 8 mm–0g
- 10 mm–00g
The inch sizes: After reaching the 00g, there are no more g sizes, and we switch to inch fraction sizes. But this is commonly the point where your ears typcially won’t shrink back from:
- 11 mm–7/16"
- 12mm–1/2"
- 14 mm–9/16"
- 16 mm–5/8"
- 19 mm–3/4"
- 22 mm–7/8"
- 25 mm–1"
- 28 mm–1 7/64"
- 29 mm–1 1/8"
- 30 mm–1 3/16"
- 32 mm–1 1/4"
- 34 mm–1 11/32"
- 36 mm–1 27/64"
- 38 mm–1 1/2"
- 40 mm–1 - 9/16"
- 42 mm–1 21/32"
- 44 mm–1 3/4"
- 46 mm–1 13/16"
- 47 mm–1 27/32"
- 48 mm–1 7/8"
- 50 mm–2"
If you take a closer look at the inch fractions, you’ll notice that the sizing is always going up by 1/16 of an inch (but the fraction is reduced). This makes it easier to wrap your head around the sizing conventions.
But, if you’re still confused about sizes, check out our ear stretching sizes chart. When it comes to fake spacer earrings, all of them come in the standard piercing size, so you’ll have no issue with wearing these with a normal piercing.
What materials do our ear spacers come in?
We stock ear spacers in a wide range of materials, including wood, glass, silicone, metal, acrylic, and gold. We also have precious stones and fake diamond plugs if you’re looking for gifts or something for a special occasion.
Another alternative is our silicone plugs / ear spacers that are softer and a great option if you want to rest your ears or they are sore from stretching.
What shapes do our ear spacers come in?
When it comes to shape, you have a lot of flexibility too! Our massive selection of ear spacers in our shop is one of the widest ranges of spacers for ears on the planet. It includes full plugs and tunnel plugs (which have hollow centres) as well as teardrop spacers. We also stock ear weights, spiral gauges, and screwback options for something different.
